Lazy

By: Cody Cova

Lazy Larry sloped into the classroom while maintaining a dazed and confused look on his stupefied face. “Please sit down and pull out your homework from last night,” Ms. Vaughn asked her students. “Larry, do you have your homework today?” Ms. Vaughn said to Larry.

“Uh, well, my dog ate my prompt and I couldn’t remember what it was about,” Larry stated sarcastically.

“Well, you will receive an F, and I shall also call your parents at lunch and tell them that you haven’t turned in any homework this week,” noted Ms. Vaughn with a bi-polar smile on her face.

“Alright, I really don’t care. I’m actually grounded for the rest of the month,” Larry shot back at Ms. Vaughn.

Ms. Vaughn just walked back to her desk after losing yet another argument to Larry. But Larry felt satisfied. Larry didn’t have to do any work until the last two weeks of class. During the last two weeks, he would then work hard and make up assignments to get a solid C. Sometimes, if he was lucky, he would receive a B - with the help of a little sweet talk and a gift for the teacher. The only thing Larry would have to give up was his X-Box for maybe a week and get shouted at by his parents. Larry was used to his parents yelling and getting mad at him. He had learned to take it on the chin and move on with his concerns. Larry spent more time and effort trying to cheat the system rather than just doing his work and studying. But Larry is a stubborn Italian. It’s his way or the high way.

                                                .    .    .    .    .    .

“Larry, did you make your bed?” Larry’s mom yelled across the house.

“No mom. I will!” was always Larry’s excuse for almost everything. “Why does she care so much about my bed? It’s just sheets. They will end up the same way tomorrow. Nobody walks in to my room and just gives me a grade. Why should I care about my bed? Are you serious?” Larry always thought to himself.

Larry needed to wake up and realize how much his laziness was hurting him. Maybe not so much right now, but in ten, twenty years, his laziness would catch up to him and hit him hard.

  1. Very interesting peice.
Cool: is that I didn't really get the point to the story.. I was kinda waiting for the big point and it never came.
Warm: was that you showed lazy really well. And it was nice to show at the end that Larry realized what he needed to do.
