One hot summer day in July, Chris and Jerry decided to take the jet ski's out to Folsom Lake and endulge in the hot summer. The lake was a dark, vivid blue, sparkling with magic. Magic that would be put to work in a couple of hours.
After a long ride on the ski's, Chris and Jerry pulled into shore and grabbed a couple cold ones. One thing led to another and somehow they had ended up performing yoga moves on each other. When all was said and done, they packed up and headed home.
Fast forward to December 26, 1994. The house phone rang. Sadly, the call had interrupted the Flinstones. Jerry was told that his dad had passed away from a sudden heart attack in his home in Pollock Pines. This was the worst possible time for Jerry. He had just been laid off from his job, and now his dad all of a sudden passes away.
Cody James Cova was born on January 9, 1995, at 7:33 p.m. To Jerry, Cody was a sign of hope. Cody was the reason that Jerry kept everything together and didn't just burst. Cody was why Jerry strived to be successful. To this day, Cody still has the same effect.

Lazy
By: Cody Cova
Lazy Larry sloped into the classroom while maintaining a dazed and confused look on his stupefied face. “Please sit down and pull out your homework from last night,” Ms. Vaughn asked her students. “Larry, do you have your homework today?” Ms. Vaughn said to Larry.
“Uh, well, my dog ate my prompt and I couldn’t remember what it was about,” Larry stated sarcastically.
“Well, you will receive an F, and I shall also call your parents at lunch and tell them that you haven’t turned in any homework this week,” noted Ms. Vaughn with a bi-polar smile on her face.
“Alright, I really don’t care. I’m actually grounded for the rest of the month,” Larry shot back at Ms. Vaughn.
Ms. Vaughn just walked back to her desk after losing yet another argument to Larry. But Larry felt satisfied. Larry didn’t have to do any work until the last two weeks of class. During the last two weeks, he would then work hard and make up assignments to get a solid C. Sometimes, if he was lucky, he would receive a B - with the help of a little sweet talk and a gift for the teacher. The only thing Larry would have to give up was his X-Box for maybe a week and get shouted at by his parents. Larry was used to his parents yelling and getting mad at him. He had learned to take it on the chin and move on with his concerns. Larry spent more time and effort trying to cheat the system rather than just doing his work and studying. But Larry is a stubborn Italian. It’s his way or the high way.
. . . . . .
“Larry, did you make your bed?” Larry’s mom yelled across the house.
“No mom. I will!” was always Larry’s excuse for almost everything. “Why does she care so much about my bed? It’s just sheets. They will end up the same way tomorrow. Nobody walks in to my room and just gives me a grade. Why should I care about my bed? Are you serious?” Larry always thought to himself.
Larry needed to wake up and realize how much his laziness was hurting him. Maybe not so much right now, but in ten, twenty years, his laziness would catch up to him and hit him hard.

CNF: Man With A Vision
A perfect day on Silver Lake. A blue sky with scattered puffy, fluffy clouds. The trees were polluting the air with the crisp smell of moist mountains. The twenty five year old man in this picture is Jerry Anthony Cova. Born February 10, 1963 to Babe and Margaret Cova, Jerry was an outdoorsy kid due to the lack of Facebook and X-Box. At four years old, Jerry's father, Babe, had taken full custody of Jerry and his brother, Pete. Jerry learned to hunt, fish, and ultimately become a man.
After graduating from El Dorado Highschool in 1981, Jerry then attended Butte College after declining their football offer. After a year in Chico, jerry decided that college was not his forte. So he migrated north to Boise, Idaho where he would work for his future father in-law.
Later, after his ups and downs in Boise, Jerry moved back to California. But this time, he moved down with his future wif, Chris nelson. And this is where this picture takes place. An early summer morning in 1988. Seven years after Jerry had graduated highschool, he had pretty much figured out his soulmate, his carrer choice, and where he would reside with his soon to be family. But today in 1988, he was fishing with his girlfriend Chris. Though still seven years away from his first child, Cody, Jerry had his life on track for a happy, healthy family of four.

CNF - The Past is Everything
Sitting amongst other little four year olds as warm droplets of joy jogged down my smooth, hairless cheek, I realized the true meaning of "Ohana", or family. Lilo and Stitch taught me the true meaning of family. No one gets left behind or forgotten. I remember the ache in the pit of my heart as the national anthem filled the crowded Arco Arena. But it wasn't the Kings that was on my mind. It was my best bud, my dog Body, who was being put down that day. The sight of a professional football field had forever cemented into my brain. For this day, I witnessed the Bears get their asses handed to them by the 49ers. But it wasn't that my team had lost, it was the insatiable vomit and bratwurst taste that fills my mouth every time I watch a game. The shock and pain I saw in my mother's eyes as she informed me that she had been diagnosed with cancer. The hope and determination in my father's eyes to make it his duty to keep my mother with us. The realization of how precious and fragile life is had hit me in the face, knocked me down, and bloodied me. I now write to you as an honest, strong, and ambitious young man with hopes and dreams of his own.

CNF - Growing is Forever
I am like soil. I am moist meaning I am young and free. I have aspirations and feel free. I am free and cooperative. When a tree falls, people yell timber.

Second Person Project
Young Man
By: Cody Cova
Every Sunday night, make sure you have enough clean underwear for the week; be sure to kiss your family before you head to work; be sure to tell them you love them before you leave; make sure you cherish your youth;

Eyes Wide Open
Today, I realized how much I had missed my friends. Today is my first day back since last Thursday. Last Friday, I had surgery on my knee. I was forced to miss pretty much this whole week of school. It was nice at first, especially since the new Madden had come out on Tuesday. But waking up and sitting in a chair for fifteen hours a day gets really boring after a while. I couldn't wait to come back and see all my friends again. Tonight, I will be going to the first football game of the year at Woodcreek. I'm going with my friends Austin Akers and Mandy Henley. I am pretty sure Casa will win once again like always and get revenge after last year. I am definitely missing football this year. I would be playing, but my damn knee had to get in the way of football. Hopefully my knee will heal well enough to where it shouldn't be a concern for football. Although, in the spring, I will be back in action with baseball. Baseball is my love and passion. This year I will be starting first base on the varsity team. So make sure you look for me in the newspaper.
